Recently I had the honor of being on a panel with the best sales executives in the Des Moines Region at the West Des Moines Chamber luncheon "42 Sales Tips in 42 Minutes". It was a blast to impart some ideas and I wanted to spotlight them. Luckily, what I do is not brain surgery (whew!) however it is about cultivating relationships.
Sales provides a very unique opportunity to meet new people each and every day. It is the excuse to get to know someone. Sales is what brings people together. It is the magnet that sparks a new connection, and enriches your life. What could be better on earth? Life is not about the stuff in your house, OR your house. Life is about relationships, friendships and the people you love. I hope that sales enriches your life as much as it has mine.
1) Your Behaviors Are Your Brand: A good sales reputation has nothing to do with your success. It's all about how you've treated people in the process.
2) Look for Prospects in Unusual Places: It's not just about the new contacts you are making; It's about the relationship you set in motion. 3) Stalk Your Clients: You don't have to be ridiculously gifted at sales. You just have to be ridiculously committed. 4) Discovering Your Ear is More Important Than Discovering Your Voice: Think twice - speak once. 5) What You Say Matters. How You Say It Matters Even More: People are drawn to a sales person who is in a relationship with something bigger than themselves. 6) Keep Your Heart Twice the Size of Your Brain: Good sales people arouse interest. Great sales people build loyalty. 7) It's Not What You Plant. It's What You Cultivate. The extra mile is where the treasure lies. Little gestures in sales, move big mountains.
